Designing Spaces and Programs for Girls

October 24th–28th, 2010

Amplify is an annual national training program for girls’ program facilitators. Through our 5-day training, supported by the Amplify Manual and ongoing follow-up sessions, facilitators learn how to start and sustain girls’ programs. Participants build facilitation and workshop/program design skills, while sharing resources, challenges and strategies.

Amplify: Training for Girls’ Program Organizers

Girls Action Foundation is excited to announce the fourth national Amplify training! Informed by Girls Action’s expertise and by girls’ organizers from across the country, this training involves: designing programs, developing workshops and facilitation skills, as well as deepening of analysis on some of the issues that girls and young women are facing.   

What is the Amplify training?
For five days, girls’ program organizers and those who are building (or hoping to build) programs for girls, get together. Through creative and interactive workshops, there will be opportunities to talk about programming for girls and to build your skills in a range of areas.

The training includes workshops about:

• Starting and sustaining your program
• Designing a program
  
• Developing a workshop (including activities, resources and ideas for programming)
  
• Explaining the need for girls’ programs
  
• Developing facilitation skills
  
• Deepening the analysis on some of the issues that girls and young women are facing (violence prevention, self-esteem, healthy sexuality, anti-oppression, etc.)
  
  

It also provides opportunities for:

• Networking and connecting with girls' program leaders from across the country
• Sharing success stories and action strategies for girls' programs
  
• Discussing your current projects and providing a space for support
  
• Relaxation, self-care, creation, and celebration!
  

The entire training is presented in both French and English.

Who can take part?
You! If you are:

• Part of a group or an organization that would like to start a program for girls
• Looking for new skills, resources, and tools for your current program
  
• Looking to meet, share and create networks with other girls’ program organizers from across the country
